01

Warm welcome at Bandaranaike International Airport / Short drive to Negombo / Relax after flight; play by the beach or hotel pool / Overnight in Negombo

Get to Bandaranaike International Airport and then take a short journey to Negombo. After your flight, spend the afternoon unwinding. Kids can play on the beach or in the hotel pool. A slow start makes sure that everyone in the family is comfortable and can get used to things. Stay at Negombo overnight.

Visit Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage (elephant feeding + bathing) / Continue to Sigiriya (cultural triangle) / Overnight in Sigiriya

You can feed and watch elephants bathe at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It’s a fun and instructive wildlife experience for kids and adults. Continue on to Sigiriya, the center of Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, where you will find a family-friendly place to stay. Stay at Sigiriya for the night.

Early climb to Sigiriya Rock Fortress / Afternoon bullock cart ride + catamaran ride + village lunch / Overnight in Sigiriya - Optional: Ayurvedic head massage for parents

A hike to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress in the early morning is a fun experience that offers great views and a chance to learn about the culture. In the afternoon, you can ride in a bullock cart, go on a catamaran, and have lunch in a village style. Parents can get an optional Ayurvedic head massage for extra health benefits. Stay in Sigiriya overnight.

Short visit to Dambulla Cave Temple (colorful Buddha statues, manageable walk) / Stop at spice garden in Matale / Evening Kandyan dance performance / Overnight in Kandy

You may observe colorful Buddha sculptures at the Dambulla Cave Temple by taking a short, simple trek. Stop at a spice garden in Matale to learn about local delicacies and get your senses going. The evening cultural event in Kandy is a pleasant way for kids to learn about traditional music and dancing. Spend the night in Kandy

Visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens / Walk around Kandy Lake or short paddle boat ride / Short visit to Temple of the Tooth / Overnight in Kandy

Visit the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, where youngsters can safely explore and learn about tropical plants. You can walk around Kandy Lake or take a brief trip in a paddle boat. Families can learn about Sri Lanka’s spiritual tradition by visiting the Temple of the Tooth for a short time. Stay in Kandy overnight

Scenic train ride from Kandy to Nanu Oya / Visit a tea factory / Explore Gregory Lake – swan boats, pony rides / Overnight in Nuwara Eliya

Families will have a great time on the beautiful train ride from Kandy to Nanu Oya, which passes through tea plantations. You may see how Ceylon tea is created by going to a tea factory. Gregory Lake has swan boats, pony rides, and lots of open room for kids to play. Stay the night in Nuwara Eliya

07

Drive to Ella via Ramboda Falls / Visit Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak (easy family hike) / Relax at a family lodge with mountain views / Overnight in Ella

Drive to Ella through Ramboda Falls, stopping to look at waterfalls and beautiful views along the way. Walk to Nine Arches Bridge and Little Adam’s Peak. This is an easy hike for families with kids. Take a break in a family resort with views of the mountains and spend time together in the highlands. Stay the night in Ella.

Scenic drive to Yala / Optional pool time or garden play at safari lodge / Overnight near Yala National Park

Take a scenic drive to Yala, and then have the choice of playing in the pool or garden at your safari lodge to rest before the next day’s excursion. Stay overnight close to Yala National Park.

Morning jeep safari (see elephants, buffaloes, crocs, maybe a leopard!) / After lunch, drive to Mirissa Beach / Overnight in Mirissa

Take a scenic drive to Yala, and then have the choice of playing in the pool or garden at your safari lodge to rest before the next day’s excursion. Stay overnight close to Yala National Park.

Chill beach day - Optional: whale watching cruise (Dec–Apr) / Or day trip to Galle Fort (colonial charm, ice cream, lighthouse) / Overnight in Mirissa

Spend the whole day at the beach with your family doing fun things in the sand and water. You can go whale watching from December to April or take a day excursion to Galle Fort to see colonial beauty, lighthouse views, and eat ice cream. Stay the night at Mirissa.

11

Drive along the scenic southern expressway to the airport - Optional short stop at Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda

Drive down the beautiful Southern Expressway to Bandaranaike International Airport. The kids can choose to stop at a turtle hatchery in Kosgoda for one more chance to learn about animals. Leave with memories of Sri Lanka that will last a lifetime.
